2007 Father’s Day wish June 17th!

May my worthy Children, bring about the following changes in their life!

Prayer: O’ Father, Grant us the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the WISDOM to know the difference!

1. Set aside at least once, if not four times a day, to Meditate .... everyday.

Timing: Within one half hour of your local Sunrise, Mid-day, Sunset and Mid-nite (or before going to sleep!

How: Sit Straight in comfortable position, Tongue connected (Tip of the tongue touching the pallet); Deeper, Slower Breathing; Focused mind (@the point between eye brows or third eye – center of forehead or head or Heart), Cheerful – Blissful (Anandmaya) composure and mentally chanting OM or any Mantra or prayer - synchronized with breathing.

How Long: Minimum 22 seconds to 22 minutes!

2. Read RAJA YOGA Book by Dr. HR Nagendra (Sponsored by us!) and watch his DVD on Raja YOGA..

3. Go through our 22 hours YOGA Program by 2008 Father’s day.

4. Master at least Pranayama Practice.

5. Take more & more Satwik Diet.... Gradually eliminate eating Meat and ingesting Liquor.
(That is if you are taking it!)

Mother’s day Gift: May 13, 2007

1. In our Vedic Culture, Mother is given the highest Importance by proclaiming:
Maatru Devo Bhava.
The first manifestation of God in our life is, Mother. We revere Mother as God. First Guru is mother. In western Culture, the second Sunday of May is reserved for offering our deep sense of Gratitude towards Mother. Mother, who gave this physical body and who brought us in this world. Without body and mind, Soul cannot operate and that honor of giving us the physical existence goes the mother. In Vedic – Hindu Culture, it is emphasized that there is no way, we can pay our debt / obligation to parents in our life time. So we must perform out duty towards our parents whole heartedly. So I leave it up to you to interpret this as to what is our duty towards our parents.

Now, we have many situations exist in our life, where we are reminded that there are other mothers in our life to whom we are obligated….

2. Prayer & Song for Bhaarat – INDIA.
Janani janma bhumisch, swargaadapi gâriyasi.
Janani Janma Bhoomi Svarga se Mahan hai;
Isake Vaaste ye Tan hai Man Hai Aur Praan hai.
Isa ke kan kan pe Likha Raam-Krishna ka Naam Hai;
Veer Veer ke Rudhir se Bhoomi Sasya Shyaam Hai.
Dharm ka ye Dhaam hai Sadaa Ise Pranaam hai;
Svatanta hai Vasundhara, Svatantra hai Aasamaan.

Motherland – BhaaratMaataa is superior to even Heaven. Our whole life, body, mind is for her. The names of the Rama-Krishna are embedded in every dust of this soil. The blood shed of the brave solders has kept land full of greeneries. This is the abode of Dharma, Salutations to thee, “O Mother, This Motherland – BhaaratMaataa is free and will remain as free as sky.” BhaaratMaataa kee Jai! Hail BhaaratMaataa!

Of course, those who are born in US and are Hindu, for them they have two Mother lands. Like Krishna. He was called Devaki Nandan – Son of Devaki, the biological Mother and Yashoda Nandan - Son of Yashodaa, the mother who raised him.
3. Prayer for PRAANAA (Praan – Energy):
Praansyedam Vase Sarvam, Tri Dive yat Pratistthitam,
Maatrev Putraan rakshasva, Shrishch Pragyaanam Cha, videhi Na Iti

O Mother PRANA, Protect this Child, just the way you protect the Three Universes, for his Wealth & Wisdom. Praanaa is probably the most important mother for survival. Now, this mother we pray for protecting, our wealth & wisdom. We need Wisdom first so that we acquire Wealth through proper means and we dispense it wisely. So the Puja for Laxmi and Sarsvati go together. We start with Ganesh first so as to make our jouney or undertaking without Obstacles or overcoming them as we face them. Along with this prayer there are many Pranayama practices offered by Yoga discipline. Thereby, we can keep our systems energized all the times, to stay on the top of our world! We must learn them & make it part of our daily life!

OM Aim Hrim Clim Chamundaiya Vichai!

Annamaya Kosha: - @ Physical Level: -
1. Tip of the tongue connected to the pallet - roof of the mouth. (Third eye psychic center is just above the pallet represented by Pineal Gland, also known as Blue Pearl, Shiva's Third Eye. According to Clairvoyance, this balances the flow of Energy by removing any obstructions!)
2. Smile on the face!
Every so often, go for Meditation (Make your own Schedule at least Twice a day.)
3. Eyes closed or in Sambhavi Mudra! (The Shiva keeps his eyes in Meditation, Half open, half closed, looking towards third eye!)
4. Relaxed body like in Meditation. Sitting erract, neck straight.

Pranamaya Kosha: - @ Prana - Energy Level
Breathing - Deeper, Slower and Balanced in both the nostrils. Ujjai Breathing and as often as possible, alternate breathing / Nadi-Shuddhi!
Respiration Rate (RR) less than 10 per minute. Preferable RR is <5. At RR 1, Kundalini awakens!

Focused Mind. Be a witness of your thoughts. Do not become emotionally involved with the thoughts. Keep bringing your awareness back to a single thought or a prayer. Like SO - AHAM. Inhale SO, drawing in pure, +ve, divine energy, energizing the whole system and as we exhale, letting go AHAM … EGO!

Firmly established on SELF.

Atma Samstham - means firmly established in Atma. Atma is the state of Sat-Chit-Ananda! Blissful Awareness! Be in Alpha State! (Alpha State is attained in Meditation!) State of Meditation is the state prior to Samadhi! Samadhi is the burst of Joy! Peace with Joy! Simply Bliss!

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Weight Management
Eight Points Proven Approach

As per Baba Ramdev: OBESITY is caused by 1. Lack of Physical use of the body, 2. Genetic, 3. Thyroid and 4. Excess Food Consumption.
OBESITY causes Diabetes, Depression, Heart Problems, Arthritis, Knee Pain, Low Back pain,

I. DETERMINATION:
a. Know your Ideal weight - 1KG per one inch of your Height. (2.2 Lbs. per Kg.)
b. Make up your mind to reach that ideal at the rate of 4 - 5 lbs. per month.
c. Check you weight everyday at the same time. Post that number in conspicuous places as constant reminder!
d. NOTE: Studies suggest that 20% over weight doubles our venerability for heart ailments!

II. WATER Principle:

A. Cleaning your mouth thoroughly prior to going to bed. 1. Preferably Brush with Tooth Powder such as Vicko black, Divya Dant Manjan or Zee Too from India. 2. Water Jet - daily. 3. Flossing – every other day. 4. Flouridation – gargle for a couple of minutes daily.

B. Procedure: 1. Drink a couple of glasses of Water one hour before going to sleep.
2. Four glasses preferably left over-nite in Copper vessel, first thing in the morning before brushing or rinsing your mouth. (This practice is suggested, as there are supposed to be Good bacteria existing.)
WATER as FOOD: Add Lemon in lukewarm water for Shankprakshalan effect (Enema), help relieve constipation. A word of Caution – In the beginning, you may need about half an hour to ingest the water. Allow an hour before leaving your home!
3. Take additional eight glasses during the day.
4. For every 25 lbs. of over weight condition, one should take additional one quart a day.

C. Benefits: This amount of water helps getting rid of excess water, excess fat and also flush out the toxins efficiently from the system.

D. NOTES: You will notice the color of the urine matching that of water. Within a couple of months your system will get adjusted. Feeling thirsty is the sign of sufficient water intake.
E. Excess Water: Safe level for Water intake is 2 - 8 Oz. glasses per hour.

III. FOOD Intake:
A. Over a month’s period, gradually reduce amount of grain food to once a day and only two - handsful. (Khobo?).
B. When you feel hungry, take Fruits, Nuts, Seeds Vegetables and Salads.
C. All the fatty food & sweets: just take minimum amount for the ‘taste’ purpose.
D. Reasonable amounts of nuts are good for our system.
E. Minimize, if not eliminate fried food. By boiling vegetable oil, unsaturated Fat turns into Saturated Fat and only way to get rid of it is by rigorous exercise.
F. Vegetarian diet is preferable! Five different colors of fruits and vegetables (Each) are very helpful. Study http://www.fruitarian.com/
G. Extra Calories turns into Fat.
H. Misc Items: Whole Milk, Sea Salt, Olive Oil, Walnut & Flaxseed Oil, Siesta, Vitamin D

IV. EXERCISE: Best one in our opinion and experience is the stair-master or your own stairway. Begin with 5 minutes a day until you can at least do it for 20 – 30 minutes.

General Aerobic conditioning requirements are:

a. Determine Target Zone for Heart rate (HR): 180 minus your age less 10.
Say, if you are 50 years young. The Target Zone is 120 to 130 HR.

b. You can reach that level in about 10 minutes – Warm up period. Maintain HR in target zone for 22 minutes. Abut 10 minutes cooling until HR comes below 100. Cooling is achieved through simple walking or your continued exercise at lower pace. Of course the best form of aerobic conditioning exercise is the one you enjoy the most with minimum - low impact on your joints!

c. It is a must to practice every other day to maintain the level of conditioning. Additional 10 minutes of workout doubles the benefit. Muscle starts loosing its conditioning around 48hours.

V. PRANAYAM: As per VYASA, (http://www.vyasa.org/) Bangalore India, Surya Nadi Anuloma-Viloma – Right Nostril Alternate Breathing – 27 times per session and 3 to 5 sessions per day. End each session with 3 – 5 rounds of alternate breathing. This practice has been proven to reduce weight 3 – 7 pounds per month until your system reaches the balance.

CAUTION: If you also have uncontrolled BP, do Nadi Shuddhi. One should practice, Minimum 13.5 times, preferable 27 times per session & 4 sessions per day; preferably with empty stomach. It is like doing four Sandhyaa: @ 1. Sunrise, 2. Noon, 3. Sunset and 4. Mid-night OR 1. after getting up / before breakfast, 2. before Lunch, 3. before Supper and 4. before going to sleep.

VII. SATWIK DIET: This is based upon my personal experience whereby, I reduced 17 pounds over 6 – 8 months. In 1992 by following first four items; and I have maintained that reduced level for last fifteen years. Since April 9 2005, I am down to 132 Lbs, another 10 - 12 lbs after I started Fruitarian (Satwik) diet, which includes Milk products. . It includes Fruits, Nuts & Dried Fruits, Vegetables (Fresh or boiled / steamed), Beans & Legume (Green Soy, Chana – Garbanzo, Tuer, Mung & Chana – preferably Sprouted), Seeds (Pumpkin, Sunflower, Pine, Flex Seeds), Milk products [1% Milk (NO More), Yogurt, Chocolate]. This weight reduction was achieved in 4 months. Basically, eat less than you need. Recommended Calorie intake is 2000 per day.
NOTE: One noteworthy point is that by combining Sun Gazing and Satwik food diet, muscles seems to become tireless, resilient.

Goodbye 2006, Welcome 2007!

Let us cherish sweet memory of 2006, put behind the Ugly memory, if any! Difficult to forget, but let us forgive! Father, forgive them, they know not what they are doing!

2006 – The exciting Year!

I would begin with Dec 2005 as we went to Bharat on Dec 4th and then we went to Vivekananda Kendra (http://www.vyasa.co/) for YOGA conference. Balubhai & CK also joined me and Niru for the YOGA Conference. The highlight of that conference was that we, Balubhai, Niru & I walked on almost live burning coal as one of the evening rituals. YOGA Conference was great too as we got bombarded with extremely useful YOGA research.

Some of the Highlights:

1. Lady Doctor in Pune has done very nice work with YOGA for Pregnancy,
2. Brahmakumari Meditation is the best for Heart condition,
3. If I recall, his name was Jeff of New Age Enlightenment, mesmerized the audience with his ability to use mental power,
4. Nagendraji maintained his composer during adverse circumstances on the stage,
5. Gorgeous Dance Performance by one Dance Academy of Bangalore,
6. Display of research work done by VYASA, and
7. Excellent organization by VYASA of this conference.
It happens every other year on their premises, so you can join us for Dec 2007.

We four also visited Shree Satya Sai Darshan in Puttparthy, Shree Shailam - one of the twelve Shiva’s Jyotirlings, Hempi (old ruins of Maharaja and temple on their palace premises). It was interesting to learn that you see Hanuman Hill from Hempi, where supposedly Hanumanji was born and Shabari Ashram in Pumpa Sarover was also nearby. Could not visit as it was not part of the plan and CK had to take specific flight from Bangalore to Ahmedabad! Yah, blame it on him!

Now 2006: After celebrating Kite festival on Jan 12th in Ahmedabad, The Vibrant Gujarat day organized by Shree Narendra Modi’s government, we had great time 8th years in row to celebrate Jan 14th and 15th in Baroda.
Highlights: 1. Jan13th night, virtually over 100,000 people get together making last minute deals from Gandigate to Mandavi (the center of old Baroda), which is hardly less than half a mile strip. 2. Hindus & Muslims are celebrating this festival in great harmony.
3. Both the evenings, sky gets filled with Fireworks all around you, all over the city. This is better than Diwali time!
4. We had from USA; Hari OM Dada, Bhasker-Rita family, Dilip-Smita family and Maheshmama together for this celebration.

On Jan 1st, while our Good neighbours, Vohra families trying to build their palace caused an accident to collapse the east wall of all three stories of our 200 years old house; which created extra headaches for our families. We will find out how it ended when we visit in 2006.

This is simply great: We have been working for last some 8 years to bring YOGA activities in local schools in Vadodara, Bharat (India). Finally, in Jan-Feb of 2006, five YOGA teachers were sent by VYASA for some two weeks and seven of us, incl. Niru & I, got an opportunity to introduce YOGA to 700 youngsters. 200 in Muni Seva Ashram, Vagodia, got 40 hours of training and 100 got for 6 to10 hours training. Similarly, some 400 youngsters in other two school got exposure of 6 to 10 hours of basic YOGA Training. I personally feel great about it!
Bhajan book for SATSANG: Well it took some 10 hours per day for nearly four months to bring it to successful completion. Balubhai for final editing, Uttambhai, Tarunbhai & Sanjaybhai for pictures helped a lot. Late Shree Rashmikantbhai Acharya, Kakubhai (Hemaben’s father) Patel, Falguniben Shah and Priyavadanbhai Shah helped a great deal for editing. It is named appropriately, Bhajan-Kirtan Smruti. It is a collection of most of the Bhajans & Kirtans that have been sung in SATSANG Center (SATSANG Organization) since 1984. It was released during Patotsav 2006. Haash........... !!!!!!!!!

YOGA Camps in USA: We conducted 12 hours Pranayama Training with Nagendraji & Dr. Shreedharji - Padmavati of VYASA in April in Sadhu Vaswani Center, DRACUT MA. We conducted 10 basic YOGA Camps of 25 hours in one or two weekends and one advance training weekend. One in Long Island NY, Three in SATSANG Center and the rest in Laxmi Niwas, GOFFSTOWN. Also a few Workshops on Diabetes, Back Pain, Knee Pain, Weight Management, Pranayama and Special Pranayama for Thyroid Problem.

Niru & I joined both VHP camps in MA & NJ during August. In NJ camp, the enthusiastic D group (Age 15 to 18) came for 6 AM special Pranayama Session for last couple of days and demonstrated tremendous interest in learning YOGA. We also appreciate all the adults who attended this SPECIAL Pranayama Sessions in both the camps.

Special appeal to all those fortunate friends and family who has the privilege to know us & our work personally: You ought to favorably consider taking our 25 – Hours weekend Basic YOGA Training! Who knows how long we will have this Nashavant Body! Life is too short, so Shubhasya Shigram! Anything Good, we should go after ASAP! Shreyas v/s Preyas! Shreyas: What is best for us should come first and Preyas – What we love but not good for us, should be last or NEVER! Anything, we Love the most, can Hurt us the most!

WELL! WELL!! WELL!!!

My fateful Triple Bypass Surgery on November 20th brought lots of excitement in our life! Like my near & dear ones are challenging my HOLY life Style! Like screwing up our plan to leave for Bharat on Nov 29th. Our prayers are answered and we got confirmation to fly on Jan 6th to mother Bharat to join our big family gathering in Baroda for 2007 Kite Festival. Sanjiv, Sandeep with their two friends Leah & Nigel, Subhashmama - Jayshreemami with their family Maulik &amp;amp; Tanvi; Bhupendrabhai – Devyaniben (Masa - Masi), Sunilmama-Ranjumami and their parents Pappaji & Mommiji, Maheshmama and our great Hari OM DADA. They are from USA and of course our families in Bharat.

We sincerely appreciate your prayers, well-wishes for my successful surgery and speedy recovery! I have seperately written some five parts on this matter.
OUR FAMILY: Our kids chase their Lofty Dreams! Raju started marketing company (third start up), Position 2 and also bought a supporting company in Bangalore. He has also set up an operation in Mumbai. Bhairavi is diligently working on her Dream of Bio sensor for Asthma with Apieron (their First start up). Sanjiv is pursuing his challenging Dream of becoming an Actor, Writer and Advertising Model. Sandeep has at least one wood per finger in his fire. Chasing his Dream of becoming Producer, Director, Writer, and Actor (?). Both Sanjiv and Sandeep are in Hollywood. And our Grand Children: They are ball of fire!

We Bharatiyas believe in celebrating life! Our calendar is filled with so many celebrations. Now days, even Valentine day is becoming big thing in Bharat. I heard even Thanxgiving is making its entry in Bharat?
